Aimée Doran joins Compass Chambers
We are delighted to welcome Aimée Doran to Compass Chambers after she called to the Bar today.
Aimée comes to the Bar after nine years as a solicitor in both the private and public sectors. She has a wide range of experience spanning personal injury, clinical negligence, fatal accident inquiries, public inquiries, criminal and regulatory matters, and professional disciplinary law.
Aimée has acted in a variety of personal injury claims, including workplace and industrial accidents, road traffic incidents, and occupiers’ and public liability cases. She has a particular interest in claims arising from historic abuse and is available for instruction by both pursuers and defenders. She brings substantial criminal court experience, having appeared in both summary and solemn proceedings across Scotland. She has worked on serious and sensitive cases and has experience in dealing with vulnerable witnesses. She has contributed to high-profile and complex defence work in the High Court and was responsible for preparing an application to the European Court of Human Rights.
Immediately prior to calling, Aimée served as a Procurator Fiscal Depute, latterly within the Scottish Fatalities Investigation Unit at Crown Office, where she was responsible for the preparation and presentation of both mandatory and discretionary Fatal Accident Inquiries. In professional disciplinary matters, Aimée has successfully represented clients before the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC), the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), and the Office of the Traffic Commissioner for Scotland.
As a solicitor, Aimée was part of the legal team representing a core participant in the Edinburgh Tram Inquiry. During devilling, she was involved in both the UK and Scottish Covid Inquiries and the Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry.
