PRACTICE:
Richard came to the Bar having had a varied practice as a solicitor. He trained at Balfour and Manson before moving to work in litigation at Drummond Miller, where he worked for four years. He has practiced in a wide variety of areas, principally:
- Professional and Medical Negligence
- Personal Injury
- Judicial Review
- Commercial Litigation
He has conducted litigation in the Court of Session, Sheriff Court and in various tribunals.
Richard is a tutor in both Civil Court Practice at the Edinburgh University Diploma, and on the WS Society's Professional Competence Course.
SEMINARS AND PUBLICATIONS:
Richard has, prior to coming to the Bar, given seminars in Medical Negligence Law to the Scottish Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (2006); and to the Bled Forum in Slovenia (2004).
He has recently been appointed as editor of the Mental Health Chapter of Green's Human Rights loose-leaf publication.
