PRACTICE:
Amber qualified as a solicitor in 1996. Her principal fields of practice include:-
- Personal Injury
- Health and Safety Litigation
- Fatal Accident Inquiries
- Media Law
Since joining the Bar, Amber has been instructed in a wide range of litigation and specialises in personal injury and health and safety cases, for both pursuer and defender. In addition to drafting work, she has appeared in the Outer House and Inner House of the Court of Session, the High Court of Justiciary and before the Social Security Commissioner. She has experience in high value cases, and has been instructed as junior counsel in a civil jury trial.
She was instructed by the Northern Ireland Office in the preparation of the public inquiry into the death of Billy Wright.
During 2006 she formed part of the Crown's investigation team preparing a large and complex health and safety prosecution relating to a nursing home fire, involving multiple fatalities.
Amber has also been instructed in matters of media law and intellectual property, and has provided advice and guidance to national newspapers.
During her time as a prosecutor with the Crown office and Procurator Fiscal Service she formed part of the Lockerbie bombing trial team, and went on to lead the Operational Policy team within Policy Group at Crown Office. She has a good knowledge of the workings of both the Scottish and Westminster administrations.
PUBLICATIONS AND SEMINARS:
While at Crown office, Amber was a regular speaker at events organised for organisation such as the Health and Safety Executive, Department for Work and Pensions, and the police.
